Achieving Excellent Face Tracking Results with DelanCam1

DelanCam1 Setup

Face Tracking

  • Remove the plastic cap do not twist it as it will rotate the lens and make it out of focus.
  • To use face tracking please replace the lens with the supplied in a small bag. To do so, simply unscrew the existing lens and then screw back in the face tracking lens. You need to asjust the focus after you do so.
  • Plug the camera in the free USB port in you PC
  • Wait for the Windows to automatically install the drivers
  • Attach the camera using our bespoke made DelanCam1 Monitor clip
  • That’s all with the camera! Lets configure your Opentrack!

Opentrack setup for face tracking with DelanCam1

STEP 1

  • Download Head Tracking Software:
  • DelanCam1-Face-Tracking.zip
  • Unzip the files to any new folder of your choice
  • Install opentrack (very easy – just follow the installation wizard)

STEP 2

  • Run opentrack software
  • Navigate to the profile dropdown menu
  • Open configuration directory

STEP 3

  • Copy our configuration profile DelanCam-Face-Tracking.ini from the downloaded ZIP to the opentrack configuration folder.

STEP 4

  • Go back to the opentrack main window
  • Select profile DelanCam-Face-Tracking.ini

STEP 5

  • A final check!
  • Go to the neuralnet face tracking plugin settings by pressing small hammer icon next to it
  • You will see a new popup window – just verify if DelanCam is selected, if not – make sure you select it.
  • Pres start button, wait 2 -5 seconds for camera to initiate.
  • If you see your face being tracked similarly as in the screenshot – this is a success! Well done!
  • Now, if the octopus is off center – press the “C” button on your keyboard to center the view.
  • You are now ready for face tracking in the game.
  • Leave the OpenTrack window running (minimize it).
  • Start your game, and the head tracking should work without any additional settings.
  • Important to note: head tracking primarily functions in first-person view, applicable to 99% of games.

The above steps are enough to get you into the head tracking World.

There are more advanced settings available in the opentrack software. They allow configuring more than we covered above. We do recommend to go to the “mapping” settings when you get familiar with the software. Mapping allows you to fine tune the head movement translated into the game. You can make it more or less sensitive thanks to mappings.

Bear in mind that not all infomration covered there will apply for face tracking. We only recommend to tweak the mapping if necessary.
